One of the main reasons people move to Manhattan Beach is the award-winning public school system that has attained national recognition.
The Manhattan Beach Unified School District administers the public schools. The district has one high school, one middle school (grades six through eight) and five elementary schools.
If elementary school preference is a consideration for your choice of neighborhood, you can view the Map of Elementary School Boundaries.

Each of these schools has received the California Distinguished School award from the California State Board of Education. This program, which made its first award in 1986, recognizes schools with quality and exemplary educational programs.
Mira Costa High School, Manhattan Beach Middle School and Pacific Elementary School have also been honored as National Blue Ribbon Schools. The US Department of Education made its first Blue Ribbon School award in 1982 to identify and recognize outstanding schools. To qualify as a Blue Ribbon School, Manhattan Beach schools must score in the top 10% on state assessment scores including English and mathematics.
Manhattan Beach residents and local businesses are very generous toward their schools. The Manhattan Beach Educational Foundation has raised money for Manhattan Beach Schools since 1983 to supplement what is offered by public funding.Education is valued in Manhattan Beach and there are a variety of additional schools within the city, including Private Schools, Preschools, and Adult Schools.
